I challenge you not to fall in love with Maria Nilsdotter (the jewellery) or with Maria Nilsdotter (the woman) when you first catch a glimpse of either of them. I know I did when I first met both. Maria is charming, beautiful, poised, talented and always one step ahead design-wise. Her jewellery is otherworldly, whimsical, magical… Perfect basically. It is a real treat to find out what she comes up with season after season. For SS14, her collection is entitled “My Town” and is inspired by the historical architecture in Stockholm, which was also visible in the intricate set she used during her presentation at Stockholm Fashion Week in August.
She isolated details from the gargoyles hanging from the sides of churches, silhouettes of grand towers but she also designed her collection with what a woman living in that magical town would wear. Her classic headpieces are reinterpreted for SS14 as well as some of her statement rings.
