I don't tend to seek out afternoon tea, it is a practice that still is very alien to me. I understand its history and use, but I generally find it quite tedious and leaving me feeling unsatisfied and a little too high on sugar. Mind you I am not much of a "snacker", I am quite happy to eat three meals a day and nothing in between. I am also more aroused by the sight of a juicy steak than by an assortment of tiny cakes... All this to say: afternoon tea doesn't really have a place in my life at the moment if it takes place when it is supposed to. Now, offer it to me at lunch time and I will happily partake.
A couple weeks ago, I was invited to the Sofitel St James to have a facial, followed up by afternoon tea. On that day, my skin refused to participate in a facial after all, it felt extra sensitive and I had to give up on the pampering. This ended up being a gift from the gods as it meant I was able to sit down for my afternoon tea around lunch time. And at lunch time, I can definitely get behind a few finger sandwiches and a few bites from a cake.
So grab your best friend, a good book and enjoy an afternoon of pampering and sweet treats at SoSpa!
