SS14 For Your Bodyshape – Part 3: Pear

Time for the third part of my SS14 Styling For Your Bodyshape series. This week, it is all about dressing your pear-shaped body.

If you are not sure whether or not you are a pear, here are a few pointers…

Your hips and bum are larger than your shoulders, your boobs are on the smaller side and your waist is generally quite small. It is actually the most common body shape for women.

Let’s have a look at your best sartorial bets for SS14…

Skirts

The main trick you need to master as a pear-shaped girl is to balance out your body proportions. Your upper body is slimmer, make sure you keep tops fitted (not necessarily skin tight though). As for your lower body, play on volume. It doesn’t have to be extreme, it can be a simple A-line skirt or dress, but if you feel bold you can try the first Viktor & Rolf look for size! Generally, you can get away with the same type of things an hourglass would wear, except you will replace the pencil skirt with a full skirt.

Trousers

The play on proportion also works when it comes to trousers: peg legs are your friends, but so are slouchier options. Keep the top tight and since you were blessed with smaller boobs, embrace crop tops, bustiers and other bra tops, they will be your best friends when paired up with high-waisted, voluminous trousers.
