It is no secret: I am a little bit in love with The Dorchester. I suppose it is what you’d call my “Happy Place” here in London. The scent of Phil Hammond’s flower arrangements give me a rush of endorphins as soon as I enter the foyer and all the little attentions of the staff there make me feel warm and fuzzy. Yesterday morning, I was invited to get a glimpse of what happens behind-the-scenes at the hotel… We were taken on a tour of the kitchen where the smell of pastries and truffled scrambled eggs lingered in the air as preparations for the guests’ breakfast were underway, then we were whisked off to one of the Dorchester Suites. I was lucky enough to stay in one of the Dorchester Suites last year and being there again brought back some fond memories. After that it was time to descend to the spa for some well-deserved breakfast and a chat with the aforementioned Phil Hammond, the hotel’s resident Designer Florist – so young and so talented!
Why am I telling you all this? Because this February, to celebrate Saint Valentine Day, The Dorchester, 45 Park Lane and Coworth Park (where I also stayed recently) are collaborating with to launch an exclusive keepsake celebrating Love. If you plan on spending a romantic night at either of the three properties in February, you can tweet prior to your arrival using the hashtag #headoverheels and a special Smythson “Head Over Heels” cross-grain leather flip book will be waiting for you in your room after check-in.
Now you don’t need to be coupled up to celebrate love in February, you could escape to Coworth Park with your best friend to gorge on delicious food at The Barn and ride horses in the countryside… You could also treat yourself to a staycation and spa treatment at The Dorchester, indulge in some alone time… Or you could have a slumber party at 45 Park Lane!
I am Head Over Heels for many things, the top three being: my family, my friends and travelling. What are you crazy for?
Champagne afternoon tea for two? That’s a nice way to spend Saint Valentine Day… Or any day in February.
The pastry chefs make approximately 500 little cakes every day!
A bit of Smythson at The Dorchester
The gorgeous spa and relaxation room
Breakfast time!
The Smythson flagship is only a short cab ride away…
… and while you are there you can get your “Head Over Heels” notebook personalised… I chose a palm tree (how obvious).
Embossing with gold leaf, it doesn’t get more luxurious than that!
