A stream of negative comments on Mademoiselle Robot and reading this post on KoS and Gala's article about Female Jealousy made me decide to post a video about it.
If you want to read some more about trolls, Princess Poochie also gave her opinion here.

Not sure if you saw my post about the whole sucking up accusation of the commentors - http://shoedaydreams.blogspot.com/2009/04/sycophant-or-sympathy.html
ReplyDeletebut it totally came about from your commentors.

AHHHHHHH I LOVE YOUR VOICE
ReplyDeleteI said it once and I'll say it again, bitches be jealouz 'cause they wack ass and you're true class. And it's proven in this video! So funny!
xxx
You are too cute!
ReplyDeleteLovely educational episode especially with the simulating hehe! I agree with Agent Lover, they're just jealous.
ReplyDeletePS- Love the new blog look!
xx-LJ from SOS!
haha I just loved your phone call with John and the bag on your head. You are adorable! And you are spot on!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED this video; my sentiments exactly!
ReplyDeleteYou had me cracking up when you had the bag over your head! Everything you were saying was so true though; perfectly candid, while still being absolutely charming about it.
I'd love to do a video blog about this, as well. I've gotten some nasty comments on my blog as of recently, too, & while I tend to let them roll off my back, they're still there...
PS; I love your voice. Being an American girl, I find accents to be the bee's knees! You are adorable.
couldn't have been posted at a better time!
ReplyDeleteP.S totally loving the layout!
x
What a marvellous post! I totally enjoyed your little performance – eventhough what it's all about, totally sucks.
ReplyDelete❤ from Munich, Dotti
This is amazing! Really funny, but to the point. Go you! & I love that despite the anon comments you keep getting, you haven't turned off the opportunity for people to comment anonymously! Courageous.

What-ev's...man have I got some good hater stories!
ReplyDeletei love your updates :)
ReplyDeletethis is perfect, well done xx
ReplyDeleteI've got female jealousy when it comes to that accent of yours!!!
ReplyDeleteAgent Lover - We should start a gang of sexy ladies wearing all leather catsuits. We'd be sexy superheroes.
ReplyDeleteRhiannon - You mean the French tries to do British? Ha. I like American accents! When are you coming to visit London? I will just listen to you and swoon.
Carrie - Have you been getting a lot of negative comments lately?
E.K - Oh please share!
Apricot Tea - You have got to ignore the negativity and carry on. Your blog is so good, it would be a shame to let them bring you down.
Aimee Marie - I will never turn off Anonymous comments because I do think that a blog is a forum for everyone to express their opinions, positive or negative. I also publish all comments, unless they are just pure insults, in which case I reject them.
Everyone - Thank you so much for your appreciation and continued support, it really means a lot to me x
Great video! I've been reading your blog awhile, but thought this would be a good time to jump in and comment. :) I've seen some comments like this on other blogs, and they're absolutely ridiculous. It's sad because you can tell the people who do that have no better way to spend time and are completely jealous. I don't understand why they keep coming back, though! If I don't like a blog, I simply don't read it.
ReplyDeleteTruth from the mouths of babes (with a little help from stuffed animals). Bravo! xx
ReplyDeleteYour phonecall made me LOL! I do live slightly in fear of getting my first negative comment, but it hasn't happened yet. Kudos to you for addressing it instead of just hopig it'll go away (which is probably what I would do!)
ReplyDeleteAhh! that was awesome. I can't understand the concept of telling people they suck for no reason, it is so ridiculous. I have never left a negative comment anywhere and I never will. This was a breathe of fresh air and had me laughing out loud. Thanks. :-)
ReplyDeletewhat about Anon positive comments...? *strokes chin thoughtfully*
ReplyDeleteyour quite right, however when you are on the net, you do somewhat bend over and expose yourself to a small percentage to some jealous and may i say not very nice cowardey people fuck wits..its part and parcel..
again however yr site is great and inspiring and everthing inbetween and loving your fringe by the way . HAWT...
i love it
and wish to remain anon..
would post more comments however theres been a distrubance down at Kebaba
have to make tracks...
Anon - OH HAI EDDIE!
ReplyDeleteAnon - It was you right?
ReplyDeleteIf not, I made a FOOL of myself, but nice to netmeet you.
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong that I kind of fancy bag-head man? He is STUPIDLY mean though..and the say we all go for bastards.
ReplyDeleteSeriously lover, massively, intensively, outrageously accurate points made! <3
Eddie ? ha ! erm no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes noyes noyes noyes noyes no *sit on fence*
ReplyDeletewell maybe yes
well yes
so yes
yes
but back to the point i was trying anon make...
its part and parcel
you could argue if your site werent great you would not get this twating comments...
then again if it was pants then they could be well deserved..
it a snatch 22 situation..
i meant catch..
end of the day of the day
you have nothing to be concerned about...
and you dont stop...
xx
Anonymeddie - You of all people should know that it is very easy to know who is behind an anonymous comment, thanks to their IP...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I do agree with you.
I also agree with me when I say you and I should get our sexy butts together and do some fun stuffs.
ROFL! I love it. You are spot on though. What a great post.
ReplyDeleteIm dealing right now with the same type of comments...yours is a very classy way to face them!!! Ill post a link to this post! ;)
ReplyDeletelove your blog btw
the nature of my work means i am exposed all the time. when i was ill and lost weight people said i had an eating disorder.
ReplyDeletewhen i don't have a girlfriend people say i am gay.
if they see me with my best friend they also say i am gay.
i wonder what they say when i walk my dog.
i think your site is nice and unpretentious, i enjoyed the interview too.
x
you are so beautiful
Oh this is my first time reading your blog, and I have to say I think you really addressed this situation with class. Way to go chicky! And you are absolutely adorable, and they are just haters!!!
ReplyDeleteYou ROCK!!!! F#CK the haters. You are gorgeous and funny and sad people hate you because your life is better than theirs. Ignore them, they suck.
ReplyDeletebtw. Long subscribed first time commenter here :)
You're the apple of my eye. pappapapagallo. x
ReplyDeleteTigerandtale - Bag head man is pure class. I can introduce you if you want...
ReplyDeletePamela Kramer - Thank you!
Akli - Welcome. Feel free to link to the post, if it can help with your negative comments :-)
Dorie - Welcome to MR as well, I hope you will come again! Thank you!
Anonymous - it is hard when everyone comments anonymously, because it gets confusing to reply, but since both your comments had the same sentiment, I will reply to both of you the same: THANK YOU! x
Anonymous - And you, mine parrottina. x
ReplyDeleteI don't read many fashion blogs, but yours always makes me smile whenever there is a new post! Screw the haters, everyone needs a bit of materialism in their lives!
ReplyDeleteThe bit with the soft toys is adorable too!
I love listening to you! :) I think this is perhaps one of the nicest, most adorable ways of addressing the whole "trolling" issue I've ever seen/read (and I've been online for over 10 years, so I've seen a lot!). Perfectly put, Mlle. R! What springs to mind is something my mother used to drill into my head when I was a child: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. ;) Although like you, I don't mind a bit of constructive critisism, I think the rules still apply in our little virtual corner of the internet.
ReplyDeleteOh... and I agree with Rhiannon: I have huge female jealousy over your accent! ;)
I totally agree with the points you are making. Blogs are not compulsory reading and people who don't like it don't have to read it. Un-constructive criticism is just gratuitous rudeness.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I have encountered your blog :) I think I will enjoy it!
Wow, MR, I simply loved the video. You are cute and very funny. Actually losers who want to do things like this real life cannot do so and considering the fact that internet is the solution to many things, they land here.
ReplyDeleteI haven't got comments like this in my one year of blogging but I have heard from a friend that many people in my Indian network of twitter say things like I'm a show-off etc. Such kind of criticism is worse because it's not just limited to my comment section.
By the way, cool new site design and header image! New fonts too, though I liked the older one better.
Once again, you are awesome, MR. Way to go!
keep on keepin' on, MR.
ReplyDeleteyou're fantastic!
and the haters are just jealous because you creative and wonderful!
x
this is brilliant! the phone call made me laugh so much! i love your blog and i think it is inspirational - i always think bitchy comments are all down to jealousy. some women are just very catty and it's a shame that rather than get inspired and involved they get bitter and bitchy.
ReplyDeletexx
Vixel - I am *this* close to quote Madonna, but I promise I won't.
ReplyDeleteCasey - Thank you for the mention on your site.
Pseudoangela - Welcome, hope you will enjoy your stay.
Freya - Ha I thought you would notice the redesign! The old font was easier to read, but I was getting sick of it.
Jellybean - Thank you x
Miss Eltan - I really wish women weren't such bitches. We have a lot to learn from boys.
You're the cutiest thing ever ! I can't see why people would leave nasty comments, don't they have a life ?
ReplyDeleteAnyways, keep going dolly doll, I love reading your blog !
some one linked me to this video and I'd just like to say how much I loved it, made me smile/giggle :)
ReplyDeletexx, karla
I'm in hysterics! And from now on I'm going to wear a bag over my head when I blog.
ReplyDeleteLove ur blog!!Can i link it?
ReplyDeleteAnna, Karla - Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWendyB - I am wearing a bag over my head right this minute. I might start doing outfit photos with bags on my head.
Oliphe - Of course you can link it. Thank you!
x
STICK IT TO THE MAN!!
ReplyDeletehaters should seriously quit
if anything you are on the right track they envy you, they bitch about you coz they care...
take it all in..
your popular even if they hate to admit it :P
its what ive learnt being curvy is not a blessing neither is it a curse.. societal laws dont apply
Spot on! All of your videos are just genius. I love hearing you say insults too, because you're clearly not used to saying them.
ReplyDeleteYou are good, your blog is good, so keep being good!
x
This is my first time on your blog, and I have to say this video truly made my day. :) I like how you stand up for yourself and others. And it's very true, online people find it "fun" to play the rude/anonymous game, I hardly doubt they'd come over to you in a bar, sit at your table and say those exact same nasty things to you in person. Keep it up, your blog is great.
ReplyDeletePS: I love clothing and kittens in baskets! :)
xo!
that's way too cute ! stupid & bored people are everywhere, they're just sad and pathetic, who cares ?
ReplyDeleteSpot on! I'd love to see more kittens in baskets.
ReplyDeleteOMG.. that was wonderful!!
ReplyDeletei could watch tons of vlogs by you!....just found your blog, and Im soooo excited..
It's cool that you actually confronted it. Most people just ignore it. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteDespite reading a lot of fashion/vintage blogs, I very seldom leave comments. However, I discovered your wonderful blog today and just had to say "good on you!" for taking issue with this problem. Leaving nasty comments is just another form of bullying and it's definitely NOT ok.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
I just wanted to add to the positivity here and say that you are: Right. On.! Keep on doing what you are doing. It's great!
ReplyDeleteI would like to marry your accent if that's alright with you.
ReplyDeleteMR,
ReplyDeleteI'm actually known for strident comment-making, however, I like your whimsical style.
I do find the suggestion that all criticism is born of arrant jealousy somewhat laughable. I have to say I found Gala Darling's small thesis on jealousy risible and rather jejune. But, hey, I'm certainly for female solidarity and she does win back a gold star for the Bikini Kill quote.
Hey!!!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog trying to get some help with negative comments. I'm receiving bad comments with insults included and I feel a little depressed.
I would like to link your video post to my blog, if you don't mind.
Check out my blog and please write me back soon with your answer.
btw, your voice is sooo cute!
I'll come back here, your blog is amazing.
Love from Spain
Lorituela
Lorituela - Of course you can use the video, I am sorry you had to deal with insults on your blog, I just had a look and I don't see any reason someone would want to insult you!
ReplyDeletexxx
Sandra - I would like to marry YOU, so I think that's a deal.
ReplyDeleteMaybe when I get to Stockholm we can have the ceremony.
Ms Vitriol - Strident comment making is great, I don't really do PC either, but there is a way to get your point across. A polite and articulate way that makes it acceptable. Calling someone a fat bitch never solved any problem, even if I have to admit it feels good. In private, in your diary!
As for the jealousy, I would love to think that all the people who comment negatively are jealous of me, it puts happy balm on my ego, but I know it is not. There are many reasons for neg comments. x
Your are too smart, funny, full of charm and class!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the best vids I've seen in the net. I'm actually afraid of those persons who write evil comments :) really, who are they in real life? What kind of person spends time with a bag in their head :D?
One of the most precious lessons my mom gave me when I was a kid was "Never write something you wouldn't sign your name" This was ages before the internet...
Thank you for sharing the same precious lesson!
And...YOU ARE MARVELOUS :)
