Blogging 101 - My Photography Kit

16.7.14

Some of you may know I am devoted to the Olympus Pen... I've been using the system for the past five years. I wrote about the EP-5, latest addition to my collection last Summer. I am really happy to announce I am now officially an Olympus Ambassador which means some very exciting things are going to happen in the upcoming months but for now I figured I'd start by telling you a little more about my photography kit as I get a lot of emails asking about my photos... Obviously I didn't go out and buy five lenses straight away, my kit grew based on how my photography evolved and each lens has a specific purpose.

Olympus 14-42mm 3.5-5.6 - This is the kit lens, a good starter lens and it allows me to get quite close to my subject which is handy for a kit lens.

Olympus 15mm 8.0 - Otherwise known as "body cap lens". This is a good pick up and go lens. I stick it on when I am just nipping out and need something quick and easy to snap with.

Olympus 9-18mm 4-5.6 - This is my wide-angle lens, I use it mostly for landscapes and interiors photos. Pretty self explanatory really, it offers a wider angle so I ca get a whole room in one shot!

Olympus 17mm 1.8I got it in March, so this is a fairly new addition but it is now my main lens. It is constantly on my camera. I use it when I travel, I use it for style posts, still life, food... Everything basically. It is a great all around lens and it lets in so much light it is perfect for low-light conditions. It also gives quite nice background blur on the right settings (I will get back to this in a different post).

Olympus 45mm 1.8 - Really good for shooting super close-ups of beauty products, food or anything that would require a macro lens. Although this isn't a macro lens per se, it is very good at extreme close-ups.

Olympus 75-300mm 4.8-6.7 - This is my crazy zoom lens (technical term alert)! I use it when I have to snap fashion shows as I can get great details that way. It is super fast too which makes it an essential companion during fashion week. As a bonus, you can also use it to spy on your neighbours.

I also have some lights and reflectors, but this is a chat for another day! I think I've told you enough for now...
