Everywhere I turn at the moment is all Christmas adverts and festive countdowns. Winter Wonderland is about to open in Hyde Park – on the 22nd if I am not mistaken not that I am counting – and my birthday is just over a month away. Which means Christmas and its endless stream of food and sequins is also pretty much putting its bags down and feet on the table at this point. I love an occasion to dress up as much as your average nearly 35 year old girl, but I don’t really do sparkles anymore. I guess I could definitely embrace a subtle sequin, like the ones on that Sister by Sibling skirt, and I may have purchased a gold sequin mini skirt to wear with a slouchy marl sweatshirt and my Vans.
These days, I am embracing a more structured form of femininity. I am attracted to strong, interesting shapes when I used to be a sucker for a girlie smock. Times are changing and so is my wardrobe. That also means my approach to Birthday / Christmas dressing is slightly different. My party pieces are darker, less sparkly but still bear some form of holiday cheer – at least I would like to think so. The tartan and leather Junya coat just screams Winter frolicking, doesn’t it? And the Y-3 track pants, when combined with that Carven sweater are the perfect Boxing Day lounging around outfit.
