The Carven Safari Dress

On very rare occasions, I leave my writing cave to take part in social activities. A couple months ago, I attended the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards, where I was invited by Pandora. As you can imagine, it caused a major outfit panic and since I was travelling around a lot before the awards, there was quite a lot of frantic internet shopping involved… I used to dress up a fair bit to go out in the evening a few years ago but now I must admit – shamefully – that I simply can’t be bothered to spend hours primping and preening to go out. Or at least I think I can’t be bothered. I am divided inside, you see. Once the scrubbing up process begins, I actually thoroughly enjoy transforming myself into something a little more glamorous and put together. Before the transformation starts however there is a lot of huffing and puffing involved. It is a hard life, I know. You’d think by now I would be ok playing the game from time to time but I am pretty much a brooding teenager when it comes to dressing up.
Back to the clothes – looking for a nice dress was the perfect excuse to order this Carven dress that I had been eyeing up for a while but had no real reason to buy. It is not too dressy, yet very easy to dress up if I need to. I can see myself wearing it with some nice ankle boots and a shirt underneath in the winter or with flat sandals and a basket in the Summer. See how I justify my purchases? Yep. This is how I roll.
