You might not think a Topman Design show would appeal to Ronnie Wood but last season's collection was partly inspired by the band's time in the south of France while recording Exile on Main St. Mind you, the rock n' roll AW12/13 looks were even more Rolling Stones. Rockabilly hair, studded leather and biker jackets galore. Ronnie Wood must have been over the moon.
It's a pretty stark contrast to the Spring/Summer collection - most notable in the monochromatic palette, but that's more than made up for with the juxtapostiion of different fabrics which gives texture and depth. The double-breasted blazer still reigned supreme, but then that wasn't important because everything paled in the shadow of LEATHER TROUSERS! I swear Buffy chic is totally happening.
I'm a little worried about the belt over coat look - don't get me wrong it looks fantastic, but I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to pull it off. It's not a problem though as I prefer the horsehair biker jacket - a classic reinvented. I also love the patent leather trench coat, but I recall my Mother owned something similar in the 80's that my sister and I used to refer to as "The Bin Bag Coat". I'm not sure I'd want to suffer the same abuse that my Mother did in the name of patent leather.
