When it comes to lingerie, I am a walking paradox. I can spend hours stroking a piece of vintage silk or chiffon, I adore the look of suspenders and stockings but I end up wearing always the same thing: vintage inspired high-waist knickers with super simple bras. I have multiple suspender belts sleeping in my drawer, but they hardly ever come out to play. I suppose I am lazy when it comes to lingerie these days. And that is bad, real bad. In fact, if saying I deserve a good old fashioned spanking in the middle of a post about underwear wasn't so heavily connoted, I would do it.
I am pretty much constantly exposed (if I stop my sentence here, a fit of giggles is sure to ensue) to beautiful lingerie, what with one of my besties being a super designer. Also, in the past few weeks, wonderful underpants seem to be appearing in front of me, preening and calling my name. I wonder if it is a sign from the Universe that as I am about to become a wife, I should step up my game? Probably not, I'd like to think the Universe isn't that sexist.
With the Underwear as Outerwear trend going bonkers, I thought it was time to show you underwear as... underwear. How conservative.
Here are some of the prettiest pieces I have come across recently.

This Australian label has just arrived in the UK and caters for bigger boobs in a really pretty way. I already signed a purchase order with my blood as you can imagine.
Agent is an old favourite of mine (and of everyone else I am sure). I like that they have everything from the ultra sexy to the most simple and delicate.
And just check out the amazing carpet in their showroom!

Naomi McGill created Harlette with only one thing in mind: "How does it make you feel?". She had no concern about pricing and affordability. The result is a mind blowing line of Hollywood boudoir worthy lounge wear for naughty romantics.
I want the peacock ensemble, even if I have to save up for a lifetime.

Another vintage inspired label, but this time totally affordable! For those of you who still insist on wearing the underwear on the outside, there are a few pieces that could easily be worked with too. Double lingerie whammy, well done 10/10.
There are of course other brands doing lovely things at the moment, some of them I mentioned here before, such as Yes Master or Playful Promises and more...
Oh and as it is National Bra Fit week, remember to get fitted before you treat yourself to a new bra!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous lingerie and I totally understand why girls want to take it out of the closet and layer on top of daywear. I also like What Katie Did lingerie & have a perfect piece for this new trend. But I'm still a bit too shy to take it out, so just wear it around the house.

ReplyDeletesssssooo pretty. If only I could afford Agent Provacteur... I'd be far more dangerous... I for one believe in always wearing lingerie you like. Marlene Dietrich worked lingerie into her film budgets claiming it made her walk better. Works for me!
