Yesterday, I went to have a first look at the Yasmin Le Bon for Wallis collection. I have never given much thought or attention to Wallis as I was under the impression that it catered for a "more mature" audience (read older). Seeing the Yasmin Le Bon collection changed my impression of Wallis a little bit. While being quite conservative and definitely for an older market, some of the pieces in it were completely wearable by someone slightly younger (like me) or even way younger (like most of you). Victorian style leather jackets and trousers, Luella inspired blouses and dresses, embroidered coats, all the pieces would do wonders when mixed in with edgier stuff. I really enjoyed the luxury feel of the collection and the fact that it doesn't scream "high street". Everything seems nicely finished, using good fabrics (silk, leather, cashmere) and the cuts were looking pretty good too.
Below are my favourite pieces from the collection...

Embroidered coat with brass buttons

Dramatic evening gown (I also really liked the styling with a "back necklace")

Luella inspired blouse (the collar and fastening embellishments are almost identical to those on my Luella blouse)

Embroidered smock dress

This is my favourite... Looks like something Joan Holloway would wear in Mad Men.

The collection is available online (at least most of it at the moment), and will be available in selected Wallis stores from next week.
Love the coat and smock. I need to check this out online.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the older audience though, as I only ever go in there with my mum.

These are great, I really like the luella-like blouse in particular. I've always quite liked wallis, I've found some great stuff of theirs in charity shops (I don't shop the high street), but maybe that's because I'm getting old!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, the last one looks like Joan would rock. :)
