I bought this vintage jumpsuit last week. I have to say it was a very difficult item to buy on my own. Normally I prefer shopping alone, but this time I could have done with some trusted company. I originally went hunting for high waisted peg leg trousers, but couldn't find any, so I went to have a look in Beyond Retro and this jumpsuit caught my attention straight away. It is made of a really soft crepe and has a satin collar. The size is perfect as well, which is lucky with anything vintage. Generally I see a dress and it is either too big or too small. I wasn't 100% convinced I could pull it off when I tried it on, and couldn't ask anyone, but I remembered how I let that Diane Von Furstenberg jumpsuit escape last time, so I was determined to buy this one.

I wore it out on Friday night to a friend's birthday and I have to say the operation jumpsuit was a big success. Everyone complimented me, which made me feel confident about that look. There is something really empowering about wearing a jumpsuit, I don't know why that is. I do know I sound like I am completely up my own a** when I write things like this, but am not sure how else I can explain the feeling.

You look bloody brilliant. I'm totally JUMPING on board with this look (see what I did there?) I wore a playsuit at the weekend, and I think that's as brave as I'm going to get x
ReplyDeleteI love it sooo much. Sadly I can never wear things like that unless I get them custom made. I am too long in the torso and camel-toe is never a good look! :D
ReplyDeleteFleur - The only downside of the jumpsuit, is that if you raise your arms too high, you give yourself a wedgie.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should get one custom made, I bet you'd look amazing in one.
Swell - PHOTOS PLEASE :)
ReplyDeleteit's a nice jumpsuit! very classic...
ReplyDeletethe only thing i dont' like about jumpsuits is that when you have to to to the loo, you basically have to disrobe completely. such a pain in the ***
but everything else ie, your top is automatically matched to the bottom=awesome.
Jennine - I was a bit worried about the going to the loo part, but it wasn't that bad, as this jumpsuit is really easy to put on and take off.
ReplyDeleteThe toilets in the bar where I was didn't shut though, so it got me feeling a bit like a flasher in case someone walked in, but you know.
You look fantastic! I always have been a bit scared of the jumpsuit look, I have to admit. I love how you paired the headband and brooches with this too--it adds a lot of fun and updates the look too! :)
ReplyDeletethe owl really compliments the suit and it does make the whole outfit looks funkier... nice pairing with the socks...
ReplyDeletelookin gooooood xo
ReplyDeletei know what you mean about feeling empowered when you wear a jumpsuit. i think it's because they're a bit like overalls or other work clothes. even when dressed up with cute accessories, there's still something a little bit rosie the riveter about them - and that's always a good look.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I feel this way about leisure suits for guys. Oh, and...I saw someone in the park the other day wearing a jumpsuit and they were jumping!!! Just standing in place jumping! A first for me.
ReplyDeletefeeling this jumpsuit! Such an easy look although I'm yet to try it with flats - not sure it would look so good.
ReplyDeletex
Sapphire - This one doesnt look so good with flats, but I think the one you have could totally be nice with flats, or mini-wedges.
ReplyDeleteI think with flats I'd probably go for a playsuit.
ps - i am posting your prize this week, promise :)
love the outfits! x
ReplyDeleteThe jumper is cute (and the headband!!!) but I'm especially loving your hair!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love this look! I stumbled upon your blog and was impressed by your look instantly. I am still not brave enough to wear a jumpsuit, but you have inspired me to go for it! You only live once!

The jumpsuit looks ace and the owls are wonderful. I've always been a bit dubious about the jumpsuit look but you've totally changed my mind. The pink socks are a great touch!
