If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a few photos from my jean journal popping up on there… This is because I am working with American Eagle Outfitters this week to celebrate the start of the denim month here on the blog and of course AEO’s arrival in the UK (although I am a little late on that one). Keeping a jean journal for a week is hardly a challenge as my first move every morning without fail is to reach for the softest, most comfortable and worn in pair of jeans I can find.
Over the years, I have tried many different styles but always ended up reverting to my trusted skinnies as I somehow convinced myself they were the most versatile and suited my body shape better. Recently, I have become a little more adventurous when it comes to jeans cuts and I am trying to ignore my body shape, focusing instead on the fit of the jeans. When the jeans fit right and the cut is good, they will look nice on any body shape. Skinny, boyfriend, Girlfriend, Flares, Wide Leg — you can do it all as long as you find the right brand.
And just like that, my #AEOJeanJournal begins with me dancing around the AEO changing rooms in their Westfield London store, after running through the well-merchandised aisles looking for the perfect jeans… Or more accurately four perfect pieces! The idea was to pick four core classics I could style over and over and that would seamlessly blend in with the rest of my wardrobe. After trying on a few styles, including some amazing flares (the high-rise artist flare is best fit in town, sadly not my style at all), I picked the following to take home: the Tomgirl jeans in abraded blue, the Jegging crop in washed black, the AEO Denim Overall (with its amazing high-waisted bottom) and the Vintage Denim Western shirt (stolen from the men’s department).
Keep your eyes peeled for a little competition on Twitter to win some AEO goodies!
