How I Wear – Laid-Back Luxe

A couple weeks ago, I was whisked away by John Lewis to a secret location to participate to The Edit with Ella. We were greeted by the most magnificent house near London, got our beauty on (make-up by YSL Beauty and hair by GHD) and selected three outfits each inspired by the ever closer party season. Yes, seriously – although I am about to board a plane to the land of the Endless Summer, I am also thinking about Christmas. As you know, sequins and sparkles are two elements I use more than parsimoniously, so much so that I tend to banish the word from my style vocabulary. One thing I can do, however is dressing down some party wear. Give me sequins and I’ll turn them into loungewear. Seriously, I will. And I did on the John Lewis Edit shoot. The best thing is I loved the result and it inspired me to perhaps introduce a little more sparkle into my Winter wardrobe. We’ll see how that goes… Now for the main event, check out the edit video below and then let me show you the three outfits I styled on the day, going from casual to über dressy.
Outfit One

You know me well enough to know this is the most “me” of all three outfits. Definitely something I would wear on a day-to-day basis, albeit a slightly dressier day-to-day. I love the details on the shirt, saves you from having to think about accessories and keeps the outfit fairly simple despite its obvious party appeal. I’d say this is a good day-to-night outfit.

Outfit Two

Maxi skirt and sequins aren’t exactly a combination you’ve seen often on this blog. However, as soon as said skirt is paired with an oversized cashmere jumper and Converse, it becomes a pretty casual piece, perfect for Winter dinner parties! No accessories needed, apart from a big fat cuddly cat.
I am wearing: Phase Eight Skirt, Converse, Jaeger Jumper (all from John Lewis) – with thanks to Kenzo the cat for being such a great co-star!

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

Outfit Three

Has she lost the plot?” I hear you whisper? No! I actually LOVED playing dress up in this maxi Somerset lamé gown. It is so far away from my comfort zone, I actually put my passport in the clutch. But the fit was amazing and I felt like a disco princess. Never a bad thing.

!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);
