I was just asked by Citizen Watches to take on a little Spring Trend Challenge and create an outfit that would complement my new DRIVE by Citizen watch while showcasing my favourite SS14 trend… If you’ve been following me for a bit, you will know I don’t really tend to follow trends, I prefer timeless style and I believe in making my own trends. For me, Spring is the best time to embrace the boyfriend shirt. It is one of my most worn items. I wear boyfriend shirts as pool cover-ups in the Summer, with jeans (try buttoning only the top 4 buttons for a subtle nod to the SS14 catwalks) or with mini-skirts – as I did here – to avoid looking overly girly. I even have a particular boyfriend shirt I like to sleep in.
The way I shop for clothes is mainly driven by my taste for timeless pieces: spend money on basic, classic items and turn to the high-street for fun, more trend led seasonal things. Today, I mainly wanted to show you the power of classics when styling yourself. Here I am wearing a simple black mini-skirt (Theory), a blue boyfriend shirt (Faith Connexion), my black and rose gold DRIVE by Citizen watch and some fun Sophia Webster pumps. Add a dash of red lipstick and you get a super classic outfit that’s not boring… and that I will still happily wear again in 10 years time. You see, fashion is seasonal – style shouldn’t be.
If you would like to get your hands on a beautifully crafted, timeless DRIVE by Citizen watch, stay tuned: next week you will be in for a chance to win the very same watch I am wearing in this post (worth £199). I will tell you how in another post!
