Monsieur Robot – The Return of the Bag Lady

Men’s bags have become an essential trend of late specifically the rucksack. Sure I jumped on the bandwagon like everyone else (you know how much I love bags) but really, rucksacks are a bit of a pain. Firstly they wrinkle your clothes at the shoulders, which is a bit of a nightmare when you’re an OCD ironing freak like I am. Worse than that they make your back all sweaty and there ain’t nothing sexy about that. Long story short it’s TIME TO BUY A NEW BAG!!! Here’s my current wish list…
1 – HYPE is a brand I’ve been meaning to blog about for ages. Made in England (buy one! you’ll rescue us all from this dreary recession) these are beautiful bags. Gorgeous handcrafted leather, real brass fittings, full suede lining – these bags are built to last forever. You can write off the cost of anything if it’s more like an investment right? Course you can…The Hastings dowel top is my choice, it’s the perfect size for a weekend away, understated but still complements any outfit.
2 – Over at Mr. Porter there’s some amazing Olympic inspired totes from Want Les Essentiels de la Vie, exclusive to Mr. Porter of course (you would’t want any old Want Les Essentiels de la Vie bag now would you?). In my head this is the bag that Tom Daley uses, but I’m probably just thinking about Tom Daley too much (is that possible?)
3 – If the thought of spending all this money on bags is making you feel guilty then Vivienne Westwood has the answer. Her range of Africa Bags use offcuts from Westwood fabrics and turn them into beautiful totes, kind of an amazing idea don’t you think? They’re handmade in Kenya by women as part of the International Trade Centre’s Ethical Fashion Program of the United Nations.  Not buying one is technically a crime. My favourite is the Cutlass and Arm Shopper.
But which one should I buy?
