It is that time of the year again, where I pack my case and skedaddle to the mothership to spend a few days looking at clothes, shoes, bags and much more at Who's Next Pret A Porter Paris, a giant fashion trade show that takes place at the Parc Des Expositions de la Porte de Versailles twice a year. This is the longest sentence I've ever written. I was up bright and early today to go to Who's Next and be able to take loads of photos before the crowds descended on the parc des expositions. Just like I did for the previous seasons, I will focus on three designers a day during all four days of the show. It isn't much considering how many young and established designers are exhibiting there, but this is what I can give you right now!
First up is Susana Bettencourt, a young designer originally from the Azores islands of Portugal who studied at CSM and then at the LCF. She launched her brand about 18 months ago after showing her MA graduation collection at the V&A. She soon went on to show in London and Paris for Fashion Week. She finds inspiration in her own personal life and so her MA collection was sadly infused with grief as she had lost her father shortly before. The collection she presents this season at Who's Next (SS13) is inspired by electricity and connections, both physical and psychological.

Laurence Heller
Laurence Heller is a former ELLE journalist turned fashion designer. Her collections are inspired by ethnic motifs to which she gives an inimitable contemporary touch. She created her label in 2006 and all her creations are made by hand. The bags, clutches and a few tops she is currently exhibiting at the show transported me to a wonderful world of glamourous villas in Tunisia, far away beaches and cocktails at sunset. Dang I could almost smell the sun cream! Laurence Heller designs are currently sold in Paris at Merci, Printemps, Brand Bazaar, Victoire, but also in Japan and in the US in Anthropologie.

Nina Kaufmann
The collection shown at Who's Next is Nina's first foray into design. It is very feminine and mixes cotton, silk and leather to create a very strong first collection inspired by her own Universe. Russian doll prints, peter pan collars and ethnic motifs will most certainly appeal to the Parisian fashion set and beyond.
