London Fashion Week - Backstage at Braganza

Words and photographs - Catherine Sprunt

In his own words, Braganza's collection is like “listening to Heavy Metal whispered by faeries”. The models wore bright pops of pink blusher across their cheeks and temples, with gently tousled hair styled with lots of dry shampoo (I witnessed Toni & Guy working their magic).

But if backstage was buzzing, the atmosphere when the lights went down at the start of the show was purely electric. As soon as the lights flashed back on, blaring music ushered out models dressed in the most perfect nude hues, muddled with pinks and the occasional flash of teal. But despite the neutral colour palette, Braganza's collection really packs a punch with cut-out detailing, soft draping and origami folds. The stand out piece for me was a gorgeous nude shift embellished with feathers – perfection!

A few menswear pieces were also thrown into the mix, as a hint for an upcoming menswear line, but the loosely cut suits could easily be sexed up as feminine evening wear.

Everything was brought together with the most gorgeous Nicholas Kirkwood dream shoes, covered in mini corsages that I saw assistants hand trimming backstage. Swoon!
