My Paris Fashion Week adventure – Barbara Bui under the Pont Alexandre III

The second show I saw in Paris was Barbara Bui. It’s a label I have followed since its creation. When I was still in Paris, I used to  like the rock simplicity of the designs and the similarities with Balenciaga, so I would often go have a look around in the shop in Le Marais. It was also a pretty affordable brand back then.

I went to the show with no real expectations and I was quite underwhelmed by what was on offer, apart from one biker/shearling jacket with white sheepskin on the outside and black leather trimmings. The footwear was also quite nice, really high and embellished.

The rest of the collection is a bit of a blur of black, leather and fur with two strangely shaped pairs or brightly coloured trousers that literally had me saying “oh no” and look away.
I ended up spending more time observing what everyone sitting in the audience opposite me was wearing, including Kate Lanphear, who was wearing a particularly lovely black silk blouse and cute bronze sandals. Another girl in the front row was wearing a nice pair of strappy shoes (not sure who she was, I am bad with faces).

One of my favourite pieces from the collection. The dress is half red silk, half tan leather.
