I didn’t really know what to expect from Jeff Garner’s Prophetik, a sustainable clothing label launched in Franklin, Tennessee. I went there intrigued by promises of a show influenced by the American Civil War. While waiting to get to my seat, I saw Hillary Alexander, looking super swish in her colourful kimono and I knew this was going to be interesting.
The show opened on a stunning black dress directly out of some Gone with the Wind wet dream and carried on with silhouettes I could best describe as a punk Scarlet O’Hara. Jodphurs, period inspired dresses, velvet, denim, raggedy textures – all perfectly executed. There was even a spot of double denim for good measure, it was an open hommage to America’s history after all.
I confess a soft spot for the very bouncy and natural hair featured in the show, created by Toni & Guy but light years from the usual Toni & Guy style. The boys were sporting super fetching 40’s style dos and with this, I will stop trying to make “fetch” happen and leave you with some photos.
