MR Crush on Rock'n'Rose... and presents for YOU

>> 8.10.09

Rock'n'Rose is the brainchild of Jessica and Emily Lathan. Created in 2007, it sums up their love for all things "classic, kitsch and quirky" to use their own words... Now I wouldn't call their creations "quirky" anymore, since there are so many independent boutiques and designers offering the same type of vintage inspired, or vintage based jewellery. It has become something of a classic really.
As I said, it is not exactly original or ground-breaking, but when I looked at their site, I actually saw a few things that would look good around my neck/wrist/finger/all of the above... so I did a little selection for you:

Wooden Robot brooches? Well don't mind if I do. Of course these would catch my eye!

These days, it is much better for me to have a tiny slice of plastic cake on my finger rather than a giant slice of real cake in my hand. They can both end up in my mouth, but one of them is safe. Safe Cake.

There is something really charming about wearing a flower around your neck for the Winter. Charming and comforting.

I liked these so much, I thought you guys should be able to wear them. So Emily kindly accepted to give one of each for you to win.

Up for grabs, are one Twinkle Stardust brooch, one Tea & Cake ring and one Winter Rose necklace.

To enter, just leave a comment below telling me which one you would like.
For extra entries, you can follow Rock'n'Rose or Mademoiselle Robot on Twitter.

The competition closes Thursday 15th October at Midnight. I will announce the winner next week.
Good luck!

Hi MR

These are amazing! I would love the Winter Rose necklace - would go perfectly with this great vintage dress I got recently

This is not a slight on your blog MR, but I've seen this jewellery done sooo many times already, but better. There is no originality left.

As you said "it is not exactly original or ground-breaking" - so why feature it? The internet is full of original accessories designers who would jump at the chance to be featured in a fashion blog such as yours.

Aimee Marie 8.10.09

Aw, how sweet! Although it's really hard to choose between them all! I think I'd have to go with the cake ring though, to hopefully curb my real addiction for cake (or just fuel it, who knows!)

Anonymous - I feature it because despite it not being immensely original, I still think it is cute, and I want my readers to be able to get some cute free accessories.

I don't often wear stuff that's crazy avant-garde or ground breaking, in fact i very rarely do so. I like cute stuff.

As for featuring other designers, I only feature stuff I like, regardless of whether it is fashion forward or not.

I hope this answers your question somehow, thank you for your input, even though I would rather a non anonymous one!

All fabulous, but I've fallen for that red rose especially, so the Winter Rose gets my vote :)

Kiera Emily Dale 8.10.09

I absolutely love the winter rose necklace in black. Perfect to match some of the more sombre tones I seem drawn to at winter time!

Claire 8.10.09

Heh, like everyone else, I love the rose necklace (in any colour!!! Particularly the dark red). It's so pretty.

At first I thought this post was on the Valentino perfume (which I wear!), Rock 'n' Rose.

Andrea 8.10.09

They are all great, but the one I'd likely wear the most is the winter rose necklace in black!

Kate 8.10.09

Love them all and think the Robot brooch in the center would be perfect to jazz up my favorite pea coat. She reminds me of Rosie from The Jetsons!

Love your blog - xoxo

kimberly 8.10.09

I adore the Winter Rose necklace. I'd love to win it - if not, I think I'd buy it. (Winning is always better for broke grad. students, however...)

<3

Chantal Vaux 8.10.09

I adore the Twinkle Stardust brooch! I love the one on the far right, she reminds me of being 7 years old and watching Will Robinson save the day once again, lol!

TreacleCarousel 8.10.09

I gave a love for the winter flower necklace. Its probably just me, but it reminds me alot of a lotus flower which automatically triggers the old(and new) amazing indian art work of their gods like Vishnu holding lotus flowers delicately- theres something quite magical about flowers, there powerful yet delicate. Sounds like my type of flower. x

By the way, i stopped my nail biting by buying a formula to put on my nails over nail polish (or not) which was VILE to taste XD

JennTRC 8.10.09

I would really love any of the winter roses. The other stuff is cute, too, but I'm not sure I can pull off robots or cake!

The red rose is absolutely gorgeous - DO WANT!!! =)

Nina,  9.10.09

the winter rose in pink would be delightful!

Smashy 9.10.09

Twinkle Stardust robot brooch, without a doubt! Just the right amount of geek plus the right amount of cute. Not to mention I usually wear flowery or spotty patterns so adding another flower might be overkill- but adding a robot would be plain awesome...

aindrea//fashionistadujour. 9.10.09

I'd LOVE the winter rose necklace in that gorgeous dark crimson shade.
It's so romantic with underlying tones of dark and has a fantasy element to it. Love it!

I follow both you and R'n'R on twitter!

Was nice meeting you @ FW btw!

Liberty London Girl 11.10.09

I don't need any jewellery (have fashion editor overload at home!), but just wanted to say: why can't people have the balls to use their name when being critical? I get a few anonymous critiques each week and it really annoys me that they can't (wo)man up and put their money where their mouth is. LLGxx

Natasha 12.10.09

twinkie stardust!!!

Anne 12.10.09

miggy 12.10.09

aww! great minds think alike!!
I actually just bought one of their scrabble letter necklaces last week!

love.xx
