There isn’t enough space in cyberspace to contain my love for Peter Jensen‘s beautiful universe, so being immersed in it for a few moments made me really giddy. Just picture the scene: Danny Elfman type music alternating with classical, big and small paper dolls, a beautiful reception room with view over Saint James park, and models styled like giant living dolls. Throw in a bit of mid-century Americana, and you find yourself in a) my head b) a dream c) all of the above.
I had to take my little girl there, and she was also mesmerized by all the “pretty ladies”, the “princess dresses” and the “pretty clothes”. In fact, her toddler mind promptly recognized the dollhouse inspiration behind the collection and asked “where is the cake?”. I think seeing it with her there made it all the more magical as she made me able to see it through her eyes, leaving aside the “fashion industry” and focusing on the dreamlike qualities of his work.
