Backstage With Hakaan Yildirim | Mademoiselle Robot

To mark the end of Fashion Week in London I would like to take you behind-the-scenes with Turkish Designer Hakaan Yildirim.

Hakaan is part of the DHL Exported program, which was created by IMG Fashion and combines DHL’s logistic capabilities to assist designers with their internal logistics and help labels that are established in their local markets meet a global audience. This is why this season Hakaan – as one of the winners – will be showing his collection on-schedule in London. The winning designers were chosen by a committee of regional experts including representatives from IMG, the British Fashion Council, Japan Fashion Week Organization, Camera Della Moda Italiana, fashion designer Nicole Miller, Lucky magazine editor Alexis Bryan Morgan, Carla Sozzani and numerous industry professionals. This marks the second season for Hakaan with DHL Exported. I had a quick chat with him ahead of today’s show.

Hi Hakaan, how are you?

I’m good thank you, busy working on final preparations for my LFW show.

Are you excited about your London show?

Of course! I’m really looking forward to it.

How many looks will you be showing and do you have favourites?

It will be around 30-35 looks and I like them all so much that I can’t even pick one favourite!

What was the most challenging moment when putting together this collection?

My theme for this season is a very hard one and I needed to be very careful analysing it. The Grey Gardens movie shows two periods and combining them together was really challenging.

Tell me a little bit more about the fashion scene in Istanbul, it looks like it has grown a lot in the past five years?

Turkey was always a country of textiles, but fashion is growing.
