London Fashion Week is fast approaching (sigh) with its 17 hour days, skipped lunches and heavy bags to lug around. For a bit of nosey fun, I thought I’d share with you my Fashion Week essentials, the little things that make my life nicer during those dreaded 5 days.
1 – Comfortable heels
I don’t wear heels very often and I tend to avoid them even more during Fashion Week, because I refuse to destroy my feet and back for the sake of fashion. However, sometimes I want to look nice for the evening festivities (when I take part) or I am in dire need of a little pick me up (I feel 100% less attractive during fashion week, it is scientifically proven) so I wear heels. Needless to say said heels have to be as comfortable as slippers or they don’t come with me. This pair of Jeffrey Campbell Winter sandals (c/o Zalando) is awesome as the ball of the foot is extremely cushioned and the heel is very sturdy. There are a few other styles from the same brand available on Zalando right now and I hear the Litas are also comfy (but not my style). Instead I have a great pair of Kurt Geiger Sissy boots.
2 – A good pen
I can’t keep track of the number of times I scrambled in my bag in the dark for a pen only to find it was empty, not working or simply unfit to write at a strange angle. This season I am fully prepared with a Parker Ingenuity pen – its tip is like a fountain pen, but it actually is a regular pen. That means no matter how dark it is and how quickly I write, my handwriting is still legible. A massive win really.
3 – Two bags
During Fashion Week, I often start the day with a rather organised bag and end it carrying what looks like an explosion with handles… as if my already precarious outfits needed this addition. To avoid this, I will be carrying two bags. A small one to fit invites, wallet and phone and a bigger one to fit a pair of flats, press releases, camera etc. Large bag by Cooperative at Urban Outfitters and clutch by Swedish Hasbeens
4 – Cute flats
Need I explain this? (flats from Topshop)
5 – Lip stain + lip balm
Lipstick doesn’t tend to stay on for very long, so I favour lip stains (and plenty of lip balm) when I have a long day ahead. This doesn’t only apply to fashion week actually.

6 – Camera + phone + some photo apps
That goes without saying: a camera to snap away during the shows, my phone for backup photos and a few fun apps for the well-needed lolz at the end of the day. Expect a few cats firing lasers at models on the runway this season.
7 – Touche Eclat
Guys, I am not getting any younger, and the bags under my eyes like to blossom during fashion week. They strive on the lack of sleep, proper food and hydration. So the secret weapon is Touche Eclat.
