Jasper Garvida’s AW11 collection draws inspiration from the Orient with sleek tailoring, delicate lace and jersey silks in deep navy, greens and reds, perfectly complemented by a palette of neutrals. Mandarin collars and high leg slits are complemented by luxe fabrics and intricate hand-sewn embellishment. One of my favourite aspects of the collection was Garvida’s use of prints to create a sense of retro, old-world Oriental glamour – black and white portraits and peek-a-boo keyhole prints on luxurious silks and kimono jackets created a sensuality and sense of mystique.
Bernard Chandran also alluded to his Oriental background, with origami folds and fluid kimono sleeves.
