Fashion week is almost nearing its end but there is always time for a low-key and fabulous catwalk show. Maaike Mekking presented her fifth season and new collection ‘Contemptation’ last night in Old Street and I am starting to repeat myself a little but: I loved it! So far almost every collection I have seen moved the previous one from the top spot but I have to say, Maaike’s pieces are stunning. I took pictures of every single outfit, again for the shopping list in my head…
‘Contemptation’ is taking inspiration from leading ladies in cult films such as ‘Suspiria’ and ‘Carrie’ as Maaike “references the timeless power of the femme fatale”. I loved the pieces that had the front-to-back colour changes in their designs the most but fell in love with the playfulness of the whole collection. I cannot urge you enough to check out this collection – it is beautiful and very flattering. And something not only for skinny minnies.
