What I am wearing / Plaid & Ukulele

I recently got my hands (or more exactly Justin's hands) on a French Connection dress I had been drooling over for a few months. I had never bought anything from there, as the few items I had tried on were pretty badly cut and well... cheaply finished. But this one has a vintage feel I liked & was just right. So I patiently waited for the sales to make it mine.

Dress - French Connection
Hat - vintage
Brooch - Tatty Devine
Shoes - Joy
Tights - very old H&M
Toys - all Mila's

I like that it is a very easy everyday dress that isn't too boring & goes with pretty much everything I already own.

Apart from this dress though, I have to say the shops are pretty boring at the moment. I can't really see anything exciting in high street shops, which is good as I am trying to keep away from them and go back to a mostly vintage or thrifted wardrobe.

Also I can't believe I had never thought of using Mila's room before as the background for my photos!

Coat - vintage

Have you found anything really interesting in the shops recently?

  2. I don't know how you waited for it to go on sale. I don't have that kind of will power. Its absolutely awe worthy and I like how you finished it off with the hat and tights. Awesome!

YES! I HAVE! Well not that interesting but impressive for where it's from www.tigerandtale.wordpress.com (first post) but I agree, I made the same decision before I went to NYC that I would not return with even one, brand new item and with a suitcase full of thrifted I did return! x

  4. nice dress!

i'm not even looking in shops at the moment due to lack of funds. but when i start earning some decent money again i'll be trying to avoid the high street as much as possible. always cave a bit for the boutique stuff in topshop, but going to try and stick with independents/vintage as much as i can.

I follow you on twitter, & I just have to say that you look like a prettier version of Kelly Osbourne. :]

& I am completely jealous that you have a ukulele. I really wanted one for Christmas, but sadly, it wasn't underneath the Christmas tree. Do you know how to play?

Way too cute! I'm lusting after dark plaids these days; it's my way of making winter less dreary. :-D

  8. LOVING the ukulele. It should be the most fashionable accessory of 2009!

Oh and the rest of the outfit is fabulous as well, especially the yellow coat =)

I love that dress so much! You are right about French Connection though, it is way overpriced for the quality that you are getting. I bought a sequin space invaders dress from there and the sequins tend to fall off when I wear it.
I'm loving these shoes at the moment but can't decide whether to take the plunge.

  11. Love the dress! I had never bought anything from FC either until in the fall I fell in love with a red and black 40's style dress they had! My hubby was wonderful enough to buy it for me, now it's my fav! ;o)

  12. Zooey D. told me she plays a baritone ukulele. What's yours? Oh, and I love the atari backdrop on the wall, ace.

  13. I found a necklace that looks like black and white cookies. I have been waiting for the perfect moment to wear it, but now the anticipation has built and I feel an intense pressure...or not.

  14. What a great look - I liked that dress too, thought it had more potential than the slogan t-shirts and fussy blouses that French Connection still seem to churn out.

I found these beauties in (of all places) Office:

I'm a 7/40, so finding my preferred vintage shoes is a nightmare, and my trusty black brogues were curling at the edges! Then there's the Tatty Devine rabbit-in-a-hat necklace, the white lace tights.. I can't wait to wear less clothes!
