Oh yes, Pavla is pretty but that is nothing. She takes amazingly theatrical photographs that you can see on her website. And because being just a photographer would be too easy, she is also responsible for the London night Twee as Fuck. She shared her tastes with me.
❤ How would you describe your personal style?
I’m not sure I have a personal style – am more of a “throw something on and make the best of it kinda gal”, but if I make an effort it’s bound to be “twee as fuck” – vintage and cute but with a debauched tinge – like wearing an apron as a full blown dress 🙂
❤ What are your inspirations? Designers / artists you admire most?
I’m really admiring of a lot of the young designers around at the moment; the Rodarte girls, Louise Gray, Nova Dando, Maria Francesca Pepe and Hannah Marshall. They’re all fantastic designers and aren’t afraid to get out there despite being very young.
❤ Which of your creations / accomplishments are you the most proud of and why?
Last year has been pretty hectic. Somehow I’ve gotten myself into getting a photography diploma, a layout and design diploma, working as a Picture Editor for Plastique Magazine and a Fashion Editor for Clash Magazine, starting the club night/ fanzine and now a record label called Twee as Fuck and working on various photography and film projects, including three exhibitions and three music videos. I’m just proud I’ve managed to get it all done without having a nervous breakdown or causing a meltdown somewhere, though the year isn’t over yet 🙂 In terms of which creations I’m most proud of, I think it’s got to be the Twee as Fuck fanzine – it’s a real labour of love and I’m really happy with it.
❤ Which trends do you think will be big this year? Which ones will flop?
I think anything to do with goth Victoriana is going to flop – enough already! On another hand I love all the glorious Recession references.
❤ What’s the most fashionable city in the world at the moment?
They’re all fashionable in their own way, and the best thing to do is to travel between them.
❤ Which websites do you go to regularly?
Style.com – you can’t avoid it for seeing all the collections. Indiemp3.com – the sweetest and very well written music reviews, stylebubble.typepad.com – this girl fashion blogger from London is a sartorial genius, and if she’s not a fashion editor of somewhere like Vogue in 10 years time I’ll eat my hat.
❤ What would you wear on a date?
It’s been so long since I’ve been on a date, I’ve absolutely no idea. Probably something that lets me show off my pins shamelessly.
