Mademoiselle Robot loves… Naomi Rose

I am lucky because when I want to interview someone clever and talented, sometimes all I have to do is turn to one of my dearest friends. I met Naomi when we were both working for a videogames company. We used to exchange music tips & talk about cute boys. We both left this company at the same time and went our separate ways. She now lives far away and studies art, so she can finally express her creative genius.

❤ How would you describe your personal style?

Lazy and easy. I am all about being able to climb a wall or crouch down in the dirt to take a picture or skipping class and going for coffee, so dresses and heels won’t cut it, it’s all jeans and flats and layers.

❤ What are your inspirations? Designers / artists you admire most?

Edwin H Land is my main man. I adore telegraph poles and cloudless skies, also dreamy photos like this.
Designer-wise I totally prefer online crafters to catwalk displayers. Artists I’m into are people like Stephen Shore, Nan Goldin, Gregory Crewdson, my Flickr contacts who are all amazing, Cindy Sherman, Francesca Woodman, and Grace Lau.

❤ Which of your creations are you the most proud of and why?

Things that I make out of felt for the people I love take a lot of work and I’m pretty happy with the way they turn out. I’m always happy when a polaroid slides out of it’s slot but I don’t think I’ve reached any great heights in photography just yet.

❤ Which trends do you think will be big this Winter? Which ones will flop?

Giant things! Giant brooches, giant bows, giant feet. Hopefully Polaroid will not get put in the garbage disposal. I hope Uggs finally flop with all my heart.

❤ What’s the most fashionable city in the world at the moment?

You know it’s London! Nowhere else has what London’s got (see: some guy wearing a horse riding hat at your last birthday). It’s got all the best people including my two faves, Monsieur and Mademoiselle robot.

❤ Which websites do you go to regularly?

Flickr, of course, spurious gossip sites, eBay for camera stuff, Pandora for musical pleasures and my new favourite, trawling through Etsy hoping to catch some charms in my net. And then back to Flickr.

❤ What would you wear on a date?

I made my first polyvore just for you:

Don’t forget, kids, next week is interview 2.0, all new and improved!
