If you’ve ever perused my Los Angeles City Guide, or if you’ve set foot in arty Silverlake before, you will already know the area is ripe with boutiques selling everything-you-didn’t-know-existed-but-you-now-desperately-need. Like a homemade soap, a candle that smells like the Hollywood Hills, a hat handmade by Italian artisans or a vintage Beni Ourain rug. Night Palm is one of those boutiques: if you visit, you WILL leave with a stylish new addition for your home or wardrobe, this is a given. But what seduced me the most is that you will also leave with a new friend, owner Tiffany Howell.
After a life chapter dedicated to running the music video division of a well-known production company, she followed her passion for interior design and art which led her to opening Night Palm – this December – in her beloved neighbourhood of Silverlake. Tiffany’s warm demeanour and knowledge of art and design is what truly sets the store apart from the others. Locals come here to hang out and flick through magazines and books, discover new artists and admire the work of established ones or simply to find inspiration amidst the expertly curated space.
