Poolside at the Beverly Wilshire

What happens when you put together three friends, a bottle of vintage Moët and one of the most iconic hotels in Los Angeles? Well… You can imagine it is pretty damn near to the formula for the perfect day. Earlier this month, I was invited alongside my best gal pals Emily and Loulou to sample the good life at the Beverly Wilshire, a fine Beverly Hill establishment dating back to 1928 and best known nowadays for its quiet but important role in 1990’s cult hit Pretty Woman. Yes, I got to walk in that very same lobby and ride that very same elevator. And yes, Pretty Woman was playing in the nail salon and it was one of the most meta experiences ever.

Once the obligatory first wave of Pretty Woman induced excitement goes down, we arrived by the pool (modelled after Sophia Loren’s) and were hit by a second wave of excitement mixed – we had arrived in paradise, little did we know paradise was just around the corner in Beverly Hills. We were escorted to our private cabana with its own little lounge by the attentive staff and from then on they proceeded to spoil us rotten all afternoon.

After a couple hours spent relaxing working hard by the pool, we headed to the spa where I had a Diamond Rose body treatment (exclusive to the property) which is a divine body scrub, moisturising treatment and massage that will leave you, 90mn later, with baby smooth skin and a happy glow.

This is the cabana experience at the Beverly Wilshire! For $450 for the day, you get to feel like a Princess (or Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman if you prefer). If you want to treat one of your best friends on a special day, this is definitely a place I recommend. Perfect indulgent day out with your bestie… Or if you want to be more traditional about it, fine – feel free to take your partner instead.
