This is the moment (some of) you have been waiting for: the new H&M designer collaboration, this time with NYC boy wonder Alexander Wang. I am sure you have seen plenty of images floating around on Instagram already, and by now you know what to expect: a whole load of black, technical fabrics and sportswear inspired everything. I went to see the collection in the H&M showroom a couple weeks ago and I must say although I am a little “all black everything” at the moment, I wasn’t convinced by it. It is a little too sporty for me, I enjoy a sportswear inspired look as much as the next girl, but I don’t want to look as though I am actually on my way back from the gym – in high heels. It reminds me of my 90s fantasies, when I thought wearing a basketball jersey as a dress made me the coolest girl in town. I did enjoy the 90s, but I also lived them so I don’t fancy myself re-doing the whole thing. And pardon me for saying that, but I don’t fancy wearing basketball jerseys as dresses these days. Anyway – enough nitpicking. While I could happily live without the clothing from the collaboration, I think you will agree with me when I tell you that the shoes are something else. All of them: wardrobe staples. All. Of. Them. Even the mega-stiletto boots. Even the slides, which could seem optimistic in Winter. I am happy to adopt every single pair of shoes from the collection and possibly will.
With a lot of items around the £30 mark, this has to be one of the most affordable H&M collaborations so far and I am pretty sure it will follow suit to all of the others and sell out quickly. So make sure you are ready on November 6th!
