Grooming – Ginsberg Is God, The Fragrance

It’s almost as if, inspired by my recent post on my lengthy obsession with Bella Freud‘s iconic knitwear, she decided to make a fragrance especially for me. Almost. I’m pretty sure the two things aren’t related but nevertheless Bella Freud has made her first foray into the world of fragrances. There are three in total, Je t’aime Jane, 1970 and of course Ginsberg is God. The first two are women’s fragrances but Ginsberg is unisex.
Ginsberg is God invokes the dusty study of a beat poet, with papers and books stacked to the ceiling. An open window lets in a breeze in which stirs the edges of the papers with a blast of fresh spring leaves. Key notes of wormwood, moss and leather hint at masculinity while black pepper, frankincense oilbanum and elemi keep it spicy and warm.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this fragrance, as the concept is abstract to say the least. Suffice to say it’s an ultra modern scent, rich, distinctive and original. Classic Bella Freud.
