Marimekko Home SS17

Perhaps some of you attended Stockholm Design Week and visited the Marimekko House in between their fika and an inspiration trip to Fotografiska Museet. Since I’ve had the idea of putting a continent and an Ocean between me and one of my favourite European capitals, I was only there in spirit. But man, was my spirit looking good, all dressed in layers and layers of minimalist black textures.

For those of you who, like me, were only there in spirit, I figured I would give you a little tour of the gorgeously graphic and totally perfect Marimekko House, while showcasing SS17 novelties by Carina Seth Andersson and Sami Ruotsalainen. This range was born after Marimekko’s design team asked Seth Andersson, known for her minimalistic handwriting, to create organic forms for its Spring/Summer collection. She accepted the challenge (duh) and offered her interpretation of Marimekko’s design language in the form of three prints: Basket, Hortensie and Spaljé.
