“Autumn is here!” chants everyone in the fashion world… The September issues are weighing our bags down and it looks like we are all heading towards a wardrobe revamp of some sort. For some of us, September also means the beginning of the fashion month and schlepping around the world looking chic, which is much easier said than done, at least for me. Without going for a full revamp each season (who has time and energy for that?), I think it is fairly useful to add a couple of quality buys to your existing collection every so often. By this I mean intelligent shopping rather than impulse buys just before fashion week or a big event. We’ve all been there, me included. But impulse buys, including instagram-envy fuelled impulse buys, are not your friends.
What you need right now is a mission – a great shopping mission. I shop so methodically nowadays: first I figure out what I want and need, then I do a quick check for what’s currently trending (not because I want to be a trendy puppy, but because if something that’s trending happens to be one of my timeless classics, then I will stock up). Once that’s done, I make a list and start checking my favourite outlet sites and stores. You know the usual suspects: TheOutnet.com, Yoox.com, Cocosa.com… When it comes to real life bargains, I like to visit outlet villages when I have time (Bicester is a firm favourite) but also I always book time in my diary to head to London Fashion Weekend.
