I think I mentioned it here before, but I don’t really get out of London much, unless I am heading to the nearest airport and then to some far flung location. I know, it is terrible not to explore my adoptive country further, but I often crave sunshine and you will have to admit it isn’t a common occurrence on this little island… So when centre:mk, one of Britain’s biggest shopping destinations in the heart of Milton Keynes invited me for a visit, I jumped at the chance to experience a shopping trip away from my usual spots.
I visited the centre:mk during their SS16 Live event, which celebrated new season collections across most retailers, from Jigsaw to Hobbs, Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser and Dr. Martens to name but a few. There were runway shows, beauty makeovers and all sorts of activities on offer for visitors.
I was given the additional challenge to put together an outfit (or part of an outfit) in about an hour, to then wear to the show. Now keep in mind the centre:mk is a mile long and peppered with great stores, I counted this as my workout for the day! My first stop was in Warehouse, as I wanted to try on the linen pieces from the new SS16 collection (I left the store with their beautiful linen duster coat). Then I hot-footed it to Marks & Spencer, specifically for the Archive by Alexa collection, and was pleased to see there were quite a few pieces there and in many different sizes, which wasn’t the case at my local M&S here in London. Finally with only 10mn left to spare, I had a quick browse in John Lewis and fell in love with a vintage brooch, which was the perfect accessory for my new navy blazer.
