Juergen Teller for Adidas Originals

I still remember the day I discovered Juergen Teller’s work… I was still at University and had a lot of time on my hands. I was getting into photographers with a raw approach to their craft. Natacha Merritt Natacha Merritt was emerging after her Digital Diaries were published by Taschen and on the day I went to get a copy of DD, I also found a copy of Juergen Teller’s Go-Sees that had come out the year before. In case you aren’t familiar with the book, it is a compilation of portraits of models (generally teens) who visited his West London studio in 1998. He would open the door and snap a photo straight away, capturing candidly the hopeful faces of all those aspiring models. After leafing through the book I was instantly taken with his work.

Fast forward to 2017 and I am still admiring Teller’s unique, raw and realistic style. Here are some images from his most recent work for Adidas Originals shot in Berlin. The new direction for Adidas is towards a “No Bullshit” approach to sportswear, the collaboration makes complete sense.
