There’s nothing I love more than a good designer bag. After realising that I was turning into my mother I decided to embrace my obsession with bags and now me and the 457 bags that take up a whole room in my house couldn’t be happier. There’s always room for another one though.
Christopher Shannon’s SS17 collection was a glorious take on the kind of British sportswear classics that haven’t been seen since Brookside was on T.V. Snap kicks, tracksuits, tortured denim and voluminous jeans are back with a vengeance. All the things that were once the antithesis of style are rendered fashionable again under Shannon’s direction, a typical two fingers up to the establishment.
But how to accessorise such a look? Well that’s the kicker, Shannon’s witty appropriation of the Sports Direct bag is exactly what these looks need. It’s nice to see a young independent designer taking from a big corporation too, rather than the other way round. And that’s the story of how I ended up with 458 bags. The bag drops on the Christopher Shannon webstore in November at £20.
