Adidas by Raf Simons AW16

There’s nothing on the fashion calendar that excites me quite as much as a new collection of adidas by Raf Simons. In the run up to the launch I check the internet on a (quite literally) hourly basis waiting for images and drop dates. The shoes that Raf makes in collaboration with adidas are infinitely better than the shoes in his own line, adidas have after all carved out a niche for themselves producing high end designer trainers, as if dominating the sneaker world wasn’t enough.

Love it or hate it, that shoe started a quiet revolution in trainers that many designers have since homaged (I’m being quite kind with my choice of words there). But we do have an entirely new style in the form of the ‘matrix spirit’ a decidedly low key shoe that marks a departure from the now ubiquitous Stan Smith. Originally released in 1984 the matrix spirit is a canvas basketball shoe that Raf has reimagined for 2016. Will it be the new Ozweego 2? We’ll see…
