Dolce & Gabbana Beauty #DGLovesFall

Dolce & Gabbana Makeup

I originally had a different post planned for today, but yesterday I was invited to go to Harrods to a make-up consultation by Massimiliano della Maggesa – Dolce&Gabbana’s international MUA and I was so happy with the finished look I wanted to share it with you straight away!

After many years taking part in professional photoshoots and various video recordings, you would think I would have started enjoying the pampering process that normally precedes such adventures, right? Well I haven’t. I still really don’t like getting my make-up done, mostly because I am a grumpy cow, but also because I know my face and am used to seeing it in a certain way, so I don’t like when someone attempts to “transform” or “fix” me. Because of this, I arrived in Harrods a little nervous, but I was quickly put at ease by Massimiliano who explained the whole D&G beauty ethos which is very close to mine: create a perfect, flawless skin (inspired by religious icons) and then enhance your natural beauty, focusing on one main feature per make-up look.

The photos you see today are inspired by  and feature products from the AW15 range of colours which include beautiful antique rose hues, shimmery browns and of course a bright Dolce red lipstick! I had a few more meetings to attend after my little stint in Harrods, so I asked for a very simple day look. Here are some tips I learned from Massimiliano:

– When you have a bit of a tan, instead of going a full shade darker with your foundation, just mix a bit of the darker shade with your usual shade to obtain a neutral tone.

– Always brush a little bit of foundation on top of your blusher to make it look like the colour is coming from your skin.

– To avoid foundation “cracking” around your expression lines, set it with translucent powder very lightly. You don’t need to put powder on all over your face.

– Bronzer should only be applied around the face to give a warm glow. Complement your bronzer with blusher to the front of the face rather than on the side cheekbones.
