Y-3 For Matches Fashion

My obsession with Yohji Yamamoto started in the late 90’s. A few years back I went to a retrospective of his work at the V&A and was reminded of his importance outside of the world of sportswear, but when it comes down to personal taste I’m all about Y-3. His designs define the “all black everything” aesthetic that has become synonymous with fashion quite simply because he does it better than anyone else. The last few Y-3 collections have rekindled my obsession with the brand and the Qasa is easily one of the most beautiful trainer designs I’ve seen in years. For SS16 Yohji has created a capsule collection exclusively for inspired by a series of ink drawings personally created by Yamamoto himself, which were unveiled during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. One of Yohji’s paintings is currently on display at No.23, the Matches Fashion private shopping townhouse in central London, which is decorated with artworks created by key designers that have partnered with the retailer.

The range will be available in-store and online at .
