Mademoiselle Robot loves… Elizaveta Yankelovich

I love nothing more than statement accessories. Over the top, theatrical necklaces and brooches are my cup of tea. So when I came across Elizaveta Yankelovich‘s creations, you can imagine that I praised the Lord about 200 times. I had a look around her etsy shop and quickly decided I needed to share her genius with the world! She is as lovely as you can imagine…

❤ How would you describe your personal style?
Eclectic. It changes everyday, depends on my mood, my morning, my work schedule. I love being and looking different. I enjoy mixing styles like evening with day looks… acid wash with bright purple and pink flower nightie… When I was young I was sort of a tomboy… now that I’m older I feel like I’m trying to get in touch with my childhood. Loving the lace, big skirts, bows, lightning bolts, hearts… I’ve been really drawn to patterns that remind me of doodling and daydreaming in class.

❤ What are your inspirations? Designers / artists you admire most?
Well, my inspirations are creative people that go for it. Follow their dreams no matter how against the grain and popularity they are. I love dreamers… but I love more the dreamers that pursue and accomplish their dream. I just saw John Galliano’s collection and thought it was amazing. That kind of passion for originality, absurdity, detailed crazy, is what I am inspired by.

❤ Which of your designs / accomplishments are you the most proud of and why?

I love all my designs…most proud of is difficult. They all make me smile, they all make me happy I guess I’m proud of all of them.

Well, there are a few accomplishments….
-Starting with embracing my childhood and journey through life no matter how shitty and hard it can be. -The Understanding and Acceptance of the fact that my parents are only human, and humans make mistakes.
-Overcoming the negative and abusive patterns prevalent in my family history. -The birth and ongoing experiences and life I share as a single mom with my 3.5 year old son Izaac.
-The way that I have channeled my emotional and mental state with imagination, dreams and creating art that I adore.
-And most recent quitting smoking after 14 years. Day 6J

❤ Which trends do you think will be big this Fall? Which ones will flop?
I don’t try to predict trends. My dream though, would be that people would boycott all clothing companies and manufacturers that make clothing from scratch, meaning contributing to our environments ever growing piles of waste and mountains of fabric and such. I wish that people would only buy reused, repurposed, DIY’ed, Organic clothing and accessories. Stop going to places like The Gap, Guess, H&M, force them to restructure how they produce their merchandise and the damage it causes our planet, and the excess waste it produces. Shop second hand & vintage, that’s where all the goodies are. My Trend for this fall and winter… is all about layers, grandpa sweaters draped over sexy see through granny/bohemian blouses, …mukluks, and moccasins. A rough and tumble whimsical put together look that’s comfortable and HOT, giving you the feeling of being a farm girl that lazes around in a pile of hay, next to golden chestnut horses reading books (cause reading is sexy) waiting for her true love.

❤ What’s the most fashionable city in the world at the moment?
I don’t know.

❤ Which websites do you go to regularly?
Etsy

❤ What would you wear on a date?
Whatever I feel like that moment. Simple, hot, comfortable, unique and appropriate for ice cream eating, walking by water, and sitting on the grass watching butterflies.

I leave you with a video of Elizaveta’s show at Toronto Alternative Fashion Week…
